C3's 2021 - 2022 Highlights
We have already been very busy this year! Below you can find lots of pictures of the activities we have been getting up to since September!
Super Stratford-upon-Avon
We had an amazing time at Mary Arden's farm! We learnt all about William Shakespeare's life, played lots of different characters in Midsummer Nights Dream and met some lovely animals too!

Sports Week and Tennis Centre
C3 enjoyed a fun visit to the Tennis Centre this month. We took part in lots of activities and practised our tennis skills with some of the Rothsay Open coaches! Sports Week 2022 has also begun. We began with Sports in the Community and enjoyed Dance, Rugby, Karate and Gymnastics. We even had a go on a huge climbing wall on Friday for WOW Day! Can you spot yourself climbing? Click on the galleries below to have a look at all of our activities.
Amazing Artwork (Quentin Blake Project)
We have been working really hard on our Art over the past three weeks. Firstly, we began by looking at primary and secondary colours, then we discussed warm and cool colours too! After that, we learnt about tones of colour and today, we drew and painted our own BFG!
Brilliant Birds
A huge thank you to Mr Bosworth for showing us the chicks that have hatched in our nest box! We had some super questions and learnt lots about them.
Super Science
This half term, we are focussing on Plants in Science! We dissected daffodils to see if we could spot all of the different parts of flowering plants! We did a very good job being careful!
Brilliant BFG Wish Potions
In English, we have been learning all about instruction writing. Since we've been reading the BFG, we were inspired to make Wish Potions and we're looking forward to writing the instructions to match tomorrow! Have a look at our wish potions below!
Awesome Egyptians
Here are the photos from our trip to Derby Museum! We explored life in Ancient Egypt, looked at mummification and even some real life Mummies from Egypt. When we arrived back to school, Mr Downes had left us a (hilarious!) joke for Comic Relief... see if you can find it below!
During Topic this week, we learnt about mummification and the seven steps Egyptians used to preserve bodies. We also enjoyed learning that brains were pulled through the nose with a hook! To explore this further, we mummified a tomato, following the same steps that the Egyptians did!
Castleton Residential
What a fantastic residential Y4! We had a wonderful three days, exploring Castleton, going underground into Treak Cliff Cavern and splashing in the pool in Glossop! Have a look at our activities below!
Castleton Residential March 2022
Lovely Light
Our topic this half term in Science is Light! We have learnt about light travelling in straight lines, reflective surfaces and sources of light. This week, we used mirrors to reflect light and managed to write backwards and walk along some wobbly lines with the help of reflection!
World Book Day and Science Week
This week was our Science Week and the theme was 'Growth'. Class 3 completed four fun activities! We explored food miles and where our food is grown by creating planet-friendly burgers, life on Mars and what could possibly grow there, growing and keeping our bodies healthy using an outdoor gym and helping to grow our minds with optical illusions!
Italy Day!
Happy Italy Day!
We chopped and organised our ingredients and then made our own pizzas! We enjoyed them whilst watching 'Luca' - a film set on the Italian Riviera!
Amazing Art Work
Today, we created perspective paintings of Venice for our last lesson on our topic 'Italy'. Have a look at some of our wonderful work below.
Children's Mental Health Week
It's Children's Mental Health Week 2022 and our theme this year is 'Growing Together'. We began our week with an interesting assembly with Mr Downes and then completed some activities. We made a big Class 3 flower pot and wrote about how we have grown since September and we planted sunflower seeds to remind us that we can grow and achieve lots of things!
Super Scientists
In Science this half term, our topic is States of Matter (Solids, Liquids and Gases!) We've learnt about particle arrangements and found lots of examples of each state. Today, we focussed on melting and freezing points. We investigated which temperature would melt the chocolate the quickest, 60°, 50° or 35° - we then had to eat the chocolate to check it was definitely melted!
Merry Christmas
Wow, what a fantastic Autumn Term we have had in Class 3! You have all worked so hard, consistently tried your best and brought huge smiles (and lots of giggles!) into our classroom each day! It's now time for a well deserved rest over the Christmas break - I hope you all have a wonderful time!
We have enjoyed learning 'Mary's Boy Child' this year and we are also looking forward to performing in our special KS2 concert on Wednesday 15th December at 3:00pm on the playground!

Odd Socks Day and Children In Need!
Happy Odd Socks Day from Class 3! This week, we will be learning all about the importance of Anti-Bullying Week and the ways in which we can celebrate our differences!
Thank you for all your kind donations to our Children In Need fundraiser! We had lots of fun being yellow and spotty for the day.
Vicious Vikings invade C3!
The Vikings have invaded C3 and we are having lots of fun learning all about Anglo-Saxon Britain and Viking life! We've placed the key events on a timeline, discussed how the Vikings travelled and used an atlas to discover their homelands and settlements.
We have also discovered that the Vikings had lots of interesting beliefs! We learnt about the World Tree that the Vikings called Yggdrasil (and we had lots of fun trying to pronounce it!) Then, we explored some of their famous Gods and Goddesses and created a fact file.
On 14th December, we also visited a real Viking village in Norway! We had a guided tour via Zoom and enjoyed learning about lots of interesting aspects of Viking life!
Super Scientists
In Science, we have been learning all about Animals and Humans! Whilst we were learning all about our teeth, we completed an experiment to see which drink caused the egg shell to decay the most! We wonder if you can tell which egg was in the water...
We also completed the Banana Sandwich experiment to help us understand the process of digestion and the organs involved! We had lots of fun getting messy!
A Class 3 Recipe
We've had a super first couple of weeks back in C3! We discussed what it means to 'be the best' in our class and wrote some recipes to follow!
